The Membertou Market opened its doors in December 2001 and has been serving hundreds of customers per day! Upon opening its doors the Market was the first hybrid style market in eastern Nova Scotia, putting Membertou in the forefront of the convenience store/gasoline industry. The Market offers a variety of products including grocery items, fresh fruit and vegetables, gas, diesel and propane, lottery and tobacco items, and also houses Kiju's Chicken & Deli Express.

In May 2010 the Membertou Market expanded it fast food operations by re-branding it existing chicken outlet and adding a deli and coffee outlet. Kiju's Chicken & Deli Express features tasty chicken, deli and coffee menus for eat in, take out and delivery.
